Chitosan is a safe and environmentally friendly natural polymer derived from the shells of shrimp and crabs, which are aquatic renewable resources. It is approved by the U.S. federal agencies FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for use in various applications such as food, medical, agriculture, and water treatment. When used for water purification, chitosan can effectively remove metal ions (excluding alkali and alkaline earth metals), organic compounds, algae, bacteria, suspended particles, pigments, and odors from water.

Chitosan Floc, being water-soluble chitosan, exhibits chelating properties with metal ions through ionic interactions, Van der Waals forces, and oleophilic cooperative binding, allowing it to adsorb organic compounds, algae, bacteria, and suspended particles in water. It forms agglomerates (flocs) that help achieve effective purification. Moreover, chitosan is a natural antibacterial and deodorizing material, which not only purifies water but also inhibits bacterial growth, eliminates odors, and removes discoloration.
